A Rockabilly Baby Shower for Millie

This past Saturday, I had the opportunity to co-host a fun baby shower for Dave’s Cousin, Kristina. It was such a fun shower to style and create for, she’s expecting her first baby in July, its a girl, baby Millicent, “Millie” for short, but this soon to be Mama is not a fan of pink. I love her fun, young loving Rock-n-Roll style, so Rockabilly was perfect! Red, Black, White, Hints of teal and aqua blue/green with pops of cherries, skulls, records, music notes, roses and more were the perfect touches. Enjoy!

Baby Shower: Pink & Brown

IMG_8753On Saturday, we showered our dear friends Kelly and Sandra as they welcome baby girl #3 into the world. I offered to help her sisters out with the shower, my job was the centerpieces and a few added decorations. I had so much fun adding personal touches and making it special for Sandra.

IMG_8758For the centerpieces, I made wood stands and stained them with Mini Wax in Dark Walnut. I painted Mason Jars in white and added a succulent. I also found some cute vases at the Dollar tree and added pink paint. The rest of the vases I left plain, added a bow and/or tulle and filled them with flowers. I created 6 centerpieces and each one had a string/nail art “L” for Lily, the babies name

Parisian Baby Shower

IMG_8559A few weekends ago, I helped shower a dear friend from Nursing School in an over.the.top baby shower. It’s her first baby, she’s beyond special and has thrown so many amazing parties, showers, weddings, etc… for everyone, she deserved something so spectacular. Her friend throwing the shower had contacted me a few months ago, asking for help and I couldn’t refuse. The theme was “Paris, or Parisian.” Here are some pictures from Lakia and Baby Zoe’s special day.

IMG_8578I just love this sign I had made a few years ago, totally forgot I had it, came in handy with the color scheme and was a perfect accent for the front door.

It was so special to see how many friends and family members came together to make everything so special for Lakia. She is the most deserving person I know and will be the most amazing Mama. I was so sad I had to leave at 2 when the shower started to go to work, I didn’t even get to see the Mama.to.be. I can only imagine the happy tears she shed, the memories that were made and the love in the air.

Upcoming…

I have some exciting news! I received an email a few weeks ago from Tiffany, who owns the most adorable children’s boutique in Seal Beach, Rascals to Rebels. When I first opened the message I was on cloud 9. She had seen my booth at the Penelope Lane Boutique a few weekends prior and wanted to offer me a vendor slot in her upcoming Baby Shower Trunk Show. Rewind: I used to love shopping at the Rascals to Rebels in Huntington Beach, always found the most unique baby gifts, Fast forward: I moved to Rossmoor and the new shop is less than a mile from my house!

rebels_to_rascals_storeShe and I chatted yesterday and I’m a confirmed vendor, one of only 4 that will be showcasing our items in the upcoming Baby Shower Trunk Show on Saturday, May 18. I can’t believe I will be along side name brand vendors: Ju Ju Be diaper bags and Scrumptious Blankets.

r2rHere are a few items I will be featuring. I will have a small table set up in her adorable shop for customers to shop from or order from. If all goes well, Tiffany will be selling and featuring the lil’ cupcake items in her shop.

The-Shops-at-Rossmoor-logoI’ll keep you updated on the times as soon as I know. I’d love for you all to stop in and say hi! Thanks for all the love and support on my crazy creative journeys.

Rustic Owl Baby Shower: Part Two

More adorableness from our fun shower this past weekend. These pictures are more personal, and are here to capture the memories we all shared together as a family, celebrating my beautiful cousin, and her 2 little blessings.

We opted to just do 2 games. Keep it simple right? but still have some fun. We played “measure mama’s belly {or guess},” and we played, “My Water Broke,” but with a twist, we played, “Guess the delivery time!”

We froze a plastic baby with twine wrapped around it, kind of like an umbilical cord, in an ice cube, once everyone go there we hung the baby over a glass vase, we had everyone guess the “delivery time,” {thats when the amniotic sac ice cube broke and baby came through the birth canal), haha it was so fun, it took almost 2 hours of labor for baby to deliver.

Everyone got to guess how big small around Jen was with her cute little baby bump, her step-mom Jeanette, was soooo close!

The winner, cousin Marissa, how cute, a little whoo whoo owl wine glass

My Beautiful family… LOVE THEM

We all had so much fun giving adorable owls. I was so surprised that she didn’t get any duplicates, the twins are going to have a crib full of owls to cuddle! We opted to include in the invitation, “In lieu of a card, please bring a children’s book with a special message inside.” This was the first time I’ve ever done this and I will do it every time! Seriously, it was so special, and its a great keepsake for the babies

Rustic Owl Baby Shower

I am so excited to share something near and dear to my heart today. This past Saturday, My Aunt, Cousin and I threw my Cousin Jen a very small and intimate shower. We have a big family on my Mom’s side, filled with lots of women! This pregnancy is such a blessing in our family, and beyond exciting for all of us. Jen is expecting TWINS and the best part, she and her hubby are NOT finding out the sex of either baby. So, the creative planning began, with the need for everything to be gender neutral, but avoiding yellow and rubber duckies, we had ourselves a theme. Jen had told me that she was going to create the nursery with an owl theme in mind. So there we had it, Vintage Rustic Owls, the shower now had a theme!

We knew that Jen wanted it small, very intimate and just a day to spend with family. Our guest list, was short and sweet, 12 of our closest family members. I started to plan, and draft up ideas over dinner and a glass of wine with my cousin Jamie {Jen’s Sister}, and my Aunt Kathy {Jen & Jamie’s Mom}. We all were on the same page and couldn’t wait to get started.

{Insert Confession Here: “I Crystal, have an obsession with burlap, mason jars and anything with a rustic vintage theme.”}

I knew I wanted to create something unique, simple, yet appropriate for the occasion, I knew I could put more creative juices into the invites since I only had to create 12 of them.

{The addresses have been changed, so please don’t come and try to find us}

For the decorations, awww the decorations. We had so much fun collecting “owl-themed,” goodies, rustic items, mason jars and whatever we could to create the ambiance that we wanted. It turned out so special. My Aunt had rented a few tables, chairs, My cousin Jamie worked on the center pieces, I did the favors, and accent decorations, it all came together just perfect!

We had this sign perched in front of the door, first thing our guests saw before walking in

{This Rustic Chalk Board Sign: Shinoda, the Stuffed Owls: Home Goods, Mason Jar, Flowers: OC Flower Mart, Vintage Bunting Banner: Created by Me}

Our Tables, awww the tables, were beautiful. My cousin created the fun center pieces and little pots, we had all white linens, created burlap table runners, and had porcelain dinnerware, the picture with the mason jar and ultrasound pictures was on the fireplace mantel.

{Burlap Table Runners: Burlap Fabric from Joann’s, Mason Jars and Frame: Our Homes, Pots: Joann’s, Centerpiece candle hurricane/wood box: Kohl’s, Candles: Pier One, Moss & Extras: Joann’s}

We framed one of the invitations and placed in on the mantel, hung a rustic owl banner, framed an adorable picture of Jen with little Blake popping his sweet face out from my cousins blog, and found more cute little owls.

{Bunting Banner: Created by Me, Green Owl Candle Holders: Target, Frame: Hobby Lobby, then repainted by Me, White Frame and Picture: C/O Jamie}

We served fresh lemon water in fun glass pictures at each table, we had small mason jars for guests to drink water out of at each table setting

{Pitcher and Dinnerware: C/O Jamie}

Okay, these puppies were the hit of the shower. I had seen the idea on Pinterest and knew I HAD to make them. I created chalkboard wine glasses, had a chalk paint pen for the guests to write there names on the base and created this fun little poem and put it in a frame

{Wine Glasses: Bed Bath and Beyond, Chalkboard Paint: Home Depot, Frame: Hobby Lobby, repainted by Me}

We had a sit down style luncheon. This seriously made the shower feel so intimate and just special! We knew we wanted to serve a 3 course style meal, and serve our family. We had the place settings sitting on the tables, once we asked the guests to have a seat and that lunch would be served, we collected all the plates and served. Our guests were in awe and I think thoroughly enjoyed being served. We started with Salad, then served Finger Sandwiches {Egg Salad on wheat, Chicken Salad on mini croissants, Cucumber and Cream Cheese on white bread} and fruit and topped it off with bundt cakes & ice cream.

{Salad: C/O Aunt Nancy, Sandwiches: C/O Aunt Kathy, Bundt Cakes and Ice Cream: Nothing Bundt Cakes}

The favors… We knew all our guests were women, and family. We wanted to do something fun and cute, useful and girly! We came up with the idea to do little manicure’s in a kraft box! So fun, everyone loved them, and could swap nail polish colors if they chose to.

How perfect are the little tags, “Double the Love,” what better way to honor the twins to be!

These are so super easy to assemble and create. I found the craft boxes here on etsy. I used the 3 x 3 boxes. The Nail Polish we picked from Ulta , it was the most reasonable and they have great colors. The emry owl boards I purchased online through Current Catalog. The mini sponge style nail polish remover can be found at Rite Aid Drugs or CVS Pharmacy. I needed everything in ‘minature’ size so I worked with what I could find for the theme. I put the nail polish, emry board, and remover in the box, once all the goodies were closed up inside I wraped the box with jute twine that can be found at any craft store. We finished them off by stamping simple kraft tags, you can find at the kraft store or on etsy, and added a mini clothespin to keep it secured to the jute. Pretty easy peasy.

I love looking at all these pictures. So fun, so special and so much love filled the room on Saturday. I can’t wait to share Part II with you tomorrow. I hope you are able to get ideas and find inspiration to throw another shower, get ideas, and whatever your creative heart desires.
